Police have revealed the man who allegedly stabbed his co-worker to death last week is 49-year-old Kim Dong-hwan.

The Busan Metropolitan Police on Tuesday released Kim’s mug shot and other personal information to the public after a committee deliberated on the disclosure and determined that it met all legal requirements.

The agency said the decision was made given the severity of the crime committed and after concluding that disclosing the information would meet the public’s right to know and public interest.

Kim, who used to be a co-pilot, is accused of stabbing to death his former co-worker, an airline captain, at an apartment complex in Busan’s Busanjin District last Tuesday.

He is also accused of attempting to kill another co-worker at an apartment in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on Monday of last week.

Kim was apprehended by police at around 8 p.m. on March 17 in Ulsan.
