AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Turkey hunters are gearing up for the 2026 hunting season.

But it’s important to keep in mind Georgia and South Carolina have different rules and dates for the season.

Georgia season

In Georgia, opening day for private land owners is March 28. Hunters using public land start April 4.

Hunters can harvest one male turkey per day, per hunter. Over the season, hunters can only harvest two male turkeys total.

The season ends May 15 for both private and public lands.

South Carolina season

In South Carolina, private and public hunting starts April 3.

The same rules as Georgia apply for the number of male turkeys: one per day, per hunter, with a total of two max for the season.

Private hunting ends May 3. Public hunting ends May 2.
