  1. I mean, if they’re talking about fax machines and stuff, fair point, but are they really trying to argue they’re more modern and with the times than *Tokyo*? They’re afraid of K-Pop dancing; they are far from beacons of the future.

  2. Anybody who’s studied the geopolitical situation would know what she meant. There’s no need for hyperbole.

She meant being subjugated to the West.
She’s telling Takaichi the following : « Break the chains girl, you ain’t free. »

She wants to meet Takaichi on an equal playing ground. She doesn’t want surprises, halfbacks, smarmy comments, or unkept resolutions from negotiations. Specialties the westerners are known for.

In contrast, that means that Ms. Un feels free from the shackles of the West.

However, free countries are labeled as etc. Then invaded, resources stolen.

That is unless they have nuclear weapons. If they do, the West stays away.

Genuinely what is there to gain from having a diplomatic relationship with North Korea? There is no valuable trade. There’s no immigration or exchange programs to be had. But there is a whole slew of propaganda and human rights abuse. Like you gained nothing of value from trying to talk to them.
