WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – The local importance of farming will be in the spotlight on Friday in Watertown.
The agricultural development conference will be at the Hilton Garden Inn, bringing together industry leaders, researchers, and agricultural professionals to discuss the ways in which technological advancements have contributed to farming in the county.
One presenter will focus on farming’s economic impact on Jefferson County.
The last time this presenter, Dr. Todd Schmit with Cornell University, was here was in 2021.
“Five years later, we’re going to be excited. Has it gone up? Has it gone down? Is it the same? What’s happening to agriculture here in New York,” said county Agricultural Coordinator Jay Matteson.
Farming’s economic punch for the county measures just below Fort Drum’s importance to the local economy. Friday’s event starts at 9 a.m.
