Kai Havertz made his return to football last night with Germany but it’s safe to assume the country’s media were not overly impressed.

Havertz has once again been injured for Arsenal but got the call by Germany and played over an hour as they narrowly beat the Swiss.

However, despite making his return from injury, Germany’s media outlets didn’t let up and he was given a rough ride in their ratings.

Havertz played just over an hour up front before being withdrawn and failed to get on the scoresheet despite a few decent chances.

With German media ratings being different to the English ones – with one being great and five being poor – it wasn’t a good night for Havertz.

One German media outlet slammed Havertz, suggesting ‘technical errors’ were obvious.

Kai Havertz: Despite numerous promising opportunities, he repeatedly failed to beat Swiss goalkeeper Kobel. He also stood out for several technical errors, demonstrating that Havertz still lacks match rhythm after his long injury layoff. Rating: 4

While another, Abendzeitung-Muenchen, weren’t quite as harsh in their words.

After a long injury layoff, he’s fighting his way back to his former strength. He had a good chance to make it 1-0 right away, but Kobel made a good save from close range (13′). Then the Arsenal striker shot over the bar (36′).

Havertz return is good news for Arsenal

While the performance might not have been great, for Arsenal, it was just important to see Havertz get some minutes and come through unscathed.

He seems to have done that and his return to the Arsenal team will be a huge boost over the coming weeks when things really matter.

With Noni Madueke picking up an injury for England and Ethan Nwaneri also picking up a knock, this international break was looking bleak for Arsenal.

But with Havertz back, it’s a small positive and Mikel Arteta will be hoping his striker returns in good health, ready to fire the Gunners over the line.
