Candidates from the Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) list in Smolyan – Mihal Kambarev, Filip Marinov and Vladimir Deliev, visited the Rhodope villages of Zmeitsa, Borino, Grohotno and Lyaskovo, the coalition’s Smolyan organisation said on Sunday.

The tour across settlements in the municipalities of Dospat, Borino and Devin was combined with free medical check-ups provided by the candidates, available to all residents of the remote mountain villages.

The parliamentary candidates held meetings and discussions with local residents, focusing on the need for real change in governance. According to the coalition, a shared perception emerged during the talks that the current model has been exhausted. The candidates argued that this model is built on dependencies and corrupt practices that have hindered the development of entire regions for years.

CC-DB representatives said that changing this model requires clear political will, transparency and restoring institutions to their primary role – serving the public interest.

The campaign will continue with further meetings on the ground aimed at hearing citizens’ concerns and offering a genuine alternative to the current governance model, the statement said.
