On the Polish-Ukrainian border, in the border-road corridor, under the supervision of the Nadbuza Border Guard Department, a modern electronic barrier is planned. It will become a hub of advanced technological security and a new element of control for the stretch of the border that requires enhanced protection in the context of growing threats in the eastern direction.

The project envisions installation of underground cables that detect seismic vibrations, as well as fiber-optic lines for data transmission and power cables to energize the systems. Surface-mounted masts will house daylight cameras and thermal imaging cameras, providing around-the-clock monitoring of the area.

All data collected by the system will be transmitted directly to the monitoring center at the division’s command headquarters, where border service personnel will analyze it. This approach aims to quickly detect any attempts to illegally cross the border and other threats that may affect the country’s security.

Costs are estimated at about 450 million zlotys. Financing for the project is planned to be drawn from several sources, including the European SAFE program, but its implementation has been suspended due to a presidential veto. Active consultations are currently underway to secure the additional funds needed to realize the project.

The approximate start dates for the works are also being discussed, depending on the selection of contractors and the availability of funding. The decision to build the electronic barrier was made in the context of the growing threat posed by Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine. The services stress the dynamic situation on the eastern border of Poland and the need for decisive preventive measures aimed at preventing various incidents.

The main objective of the new complex is not only to hinder illegal border crossing but also to significantly improve the effectiveness of detecting and responding to incidents that could threaten the state’s security. After the tender was announced, the process of selecting potential contractors began. Interest in the project is high, but final participation will depend on financial capabilities and compliance with modern technology requirements.
