High level talks in Kyiv revealed concrete proposals for joint defense production and energy support. Bulgarian ministers emphasized lessons from their own EU accession and offered help against disinformation.

In Kyiv, during a joint press conference with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Neinski expressed her stance on supporting Ukraine and its path to the EU.

“We know and have seen the courage and strength you have demonstrated, which commands the respect of all of us. We are here to thank you for what you have done and to say that we support you and advocate for Ukraine to become a member of the EU as soon as possible, because Ukraine belongs to Europe geographically, as well as historically, in its traditions, and in the mentality of its people.”

“Your help in combating disinformation and hybrid attacks is greatly welcomed on our side. This experience will be important, as two weeks ago we created a small unit to fight disinformation and hybrid attacks, but we are still newcomers in this field. Neinski also said that when Bulgaria applied for EU and NATO membership, Russia blackmailed it and tried to prevent a change in geopolitical orientation by canceling or reducing gas and oil. Therefore Bulgaria, in her words, understands Ukraine’s history and is ready to cooperate with it in the energy sector.”
