Article 5 was invoked only once in history and that wasn’t to come to the aid of Canada or any European country. Now the non-US NATO members are getting strong-armed once again by an incompetent American administration to send their men off to a war the US and Israel started despite NATO being a *defensive* alliance. After being insulted and bullied for more than a year to add insult to injury. On top of all of this, how sure can the non-US NATO members be that US security assurances are worth the paper they’re written on? Because if we’re taking a look at the Ukraine situation (who if I’m not mistaken did get some sort of guarantees in 1994) or the Gulf States getting hit by Iran on the regular…signs increasingly point in the direction of US “assurances” in reality being worth jack shit.
Now if we take all of this into account and realize that current-day NATO in practice may only and solely exist to serve American interests, then I can’t help but feel that the US as a NATO partner might be a liability above anything else. So yes, possibly a reexamination is long overdue, but maybe it’s not the US who should crave for the reexamining.

When the states don’t talk to anyone in NATO and then at the prompting of Israel unilaterally attacks Iran during a period of negations and when everyone warned of the consequences, get fucked. NATO is a defensive organization, Iran did not attack the United States, Iran does not have nukes and was not an immediate threat to the United States or any other NATO member. Not to mention the fact that the United States has done nothing but belittle and threaten its NATO allies.
