Recent data shows eight out of ten South Koreans are content with their lives.

According to the Social Indicators in 2025 report released by the Ministry of Data and Statistics on Tuesday, 80-point-eight percent of South Koreans were happy with their life, up five-point-two percentage points from the previous year.

The figure is the highest to be posted since related statistics were first compiled in 2013.

By age, those in their 30s had the highest level of satisfaction, followed by those in their 40s, while people aged 60 and older had the lowest level of satisfaction.

By gender, men generally reported higher life satisfaction than women.

The findings also showed that 79-point-four percent of people thought their work was worthwhile, up three-point-one percentage points from 2024.

The ministry attributed the higher level of subjective well-being to growth in consumer spending and traveling.
