As you know, the De-Sovietization Commission has already been disbanded, and the entire process has been handed over to the Genocide and Resistance Research Center of the Lithuanian Population. It won’t be long – Vasilisa & Co already have a plan to stop the whole process altogether.

This is it – at the moment, another amendment to the law is secretly traveling through the corridors of the Government and ministries, which aims to take the process of de-Sovietization away from the Genocide and Resistance Research Center and hand it over to… municipalities. If such an amendment were to be adopted, now only the municipalities would have the right to decide whether it is necessary to de-Sovietize public objects in their territories that praise the Soviet occupiers, or to continue to pretend that it was better under the Russians.

Knowing who controls the majority of Lithuanian municipalities, there are no big questions about what will be decided. Especially since a large part of the residents of the regions are impatiently waiting for the return of the Russian military boot on their neck – it is not a big hope that, as the 2027 municipal elections approach, any mayor would decide to go against the will of the majority of voters.

Currently, the amendment to the law created by the Socdemas of the Seimas is making its way through the ministries. The Ministry of Culture is responsible for pushing through the amendment – I hear that there is a lot of psychological pressure on other institutions to approve everything without any comments. It is interesting that KAM approved everything without reservations – although it seems that she herself should be responsible for the success of the cognitive war. So far, only the Department of Cultural Heritage and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are holding the front – they have written letters about the threat of such a change, but it is obvious that everything has already been decided in the corridors of power.

Sometime soon, that amendment will be tried to be secretly pushed through the Seimas.
