Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday to discuss de-escalation in the region and developments in Libya and the Gaza Strip.
According to the Egyptian statement, Abdel-Aty and Putin discussed the evolving situation in Libya, during which Abdel-Aty emphasized the need to unify Libyan national institutions.
Abdel-Aty also stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive political settlement through a Libyan-led process that fulfills the aspirations of the Libyan people and supports holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.
