Environment Canada has issued an advisory for freezing drizzle affecting areas near Sundre and Olds, warning of icy and potentially hazardous conditions.

The national weather agency says freezing drizzle has developed across the region and is expected to continue before ending this morning (April 6).

Surfaces including roads, sidewalks and parking lots are likely to become icy and slippery.

Officials note that ice buildup may be difficult to detect, increasing the risk for both motorists and pedestrians.

Drivers are being urged to take extra precautions, including slowing down, turning on headlights and maintaining a safe following distance.
