The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia welcomes the historic Agreement on Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia concluded on 8 August 2025, in Washington, D.C., under the auspices of U.S. President Donald Trump, between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan.
This landmark accord constitutes a critically important step towards establishing sustainable peace in the South Caucasus and paves the way for new opportunities for long-term and stable development in the region.
Georgia firmly supports the reinforcement of peace and the strengthening of cooperation in the region, which are directed toward the stability and prosperity of the South Caucasus.
We particularly commend the outstanding contribution and efforts of the United States of America, and personally President Donald Trump, in the process of resolving the protracted conflict that has persisted for decades in the South Caucasus.
We express the hope that this historic event will generate a chain reaction effect, positively influencing the peaceful resolution of conflicts in the Black Sea region and across the world.
