MALTA. The long-standing dispute within the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Malta has been resolved. Vice President Ramsharan Simkhada announced that a new working committee has been formed following a reconciliation between the two factions, embracing a spirit of unity and consensus. 

According to him, the unity process, conducted through consensus, has led to the unanimous election of a new working committee led by President Roshan Giri. With the unification of the NRNA central body, the National Coordination Council (NCC) Malta has also taken a concrete form of unity. Shankar Pokhrel and Madhu Gurung have been selected as ICC members of the new committee.

Head of the Philanthropy and Humanitarian Assistance (PHA) Department, Ramsharan Simkhada, traveled to Malta to facilitate the resolution. The new committee’s vice presidents include Niraj Shrestha, Lalit Pandey, Bijay Pariyar, Hari Prasad Paudel, Raju Bishwakarma, Dhruva Prasad Pandey, and Amber Bahadur Rawat. Additionally, Shyam Kumar Basnet (Ansha) has been selected as Youth Vice President, and Dhanu Tamang as Women’s Vice President.
Birojang Pandey has been elected as General Secretary, responsible for the organization’s administrative duties, while Samundra Bhattarai and Kiran Budhathoki serve as Deputy General Secretaries. The responsibilities of Secretary have been assigned to Bharat Aryal, Rabindra Tamang, Lil Bahadur Bisht (Amber), Resham Bahadur BK, Niraj Shrestha, and S.B. Gurung.

Similarly, Damodar Lamichhane has been selected as Treasurer, Hema Tamang as Assistant Treasurer, Naina Gurung as Women’s Coordinator, Roshan Tiwari as Youth Coordinator, and Rina Karki as Women’s Secretary. The working committee members include Subash Lamichhane, Prakash Bantawa Rai, Darshan Limbu, Dinesh Dholi, Sushma Karki, and Dirgha Singh Gurung.

To further strengthen the unity process, it has been decided to recommend the immediate past presidents, Ramesh Khanal and Satyanarayan Jha, for nomination to the Europe region and the ICC.

The outgoing officials, who completed their three-year tenure, have pledged their full support and cooperation to the new committee. Newly elected President Roshan Giri has expressed his commitment to working for the welfare of Nepalis in Malta by bringing all factions together.
