Socialist Party MP Erion Braçe , during his speech in the Parliament, made a strong statement, saying that money laundering is taking place in Albania.
Also, according to him, money laundering takes place in every country in Europe and the world.
“I continue to say that dirty money is being laundered in Albania, from morning to night, and no one can deny this,” he emphasizes.
Braçe further said that there are reports of companies or company owners who are funneling dirty money into the construction sector.
The socialist MP also emphasized that Parliament should increase control over institutions dealing with combating the phenomenon of money laundering.
Braçe: I have not heard anyone say that money is not laundered in Albania. If someone comes out and says that money is not laundered, it must be abnormal. Because there is no place in Europe and the world where money is not laundered. Even the Vatican was on the gray list of money laundering. I continue to say that ‘yes, money is laundered in Albania, from morning to night’ and no one can deny this. But as for there being clear acts of the agencies that the law has charged with dealing with this phenomenon, there are. There are, as the Anti-Money Laundering Agency has, reports to the prosecution. There are clear reports about this phenomenon, about companies or company owners that deal with this and that infiltrate the construction sector with dirty money. Should Parliament exercise control over these institutions to strengthen this fight? Yes, it should strengthen it.
