CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a public meeting next week to discuss restarting the Duane Arnold nuclear plant.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Public Library’s Whipple Auditorium. Staffers will go over licensing, inspection activities and the safety of resuming operations.

The plant was shut down in 2020 due to a damaged cooling tower. Community members are welcome to attend to learn more and are encouraged to ask questions.

There is also an option for virtual attendance.
