LITHUANIA denied Gilas Pilipinas women’s team an outright berth in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup behind a 21-16 win in their semifinals clash Sunday at the OCBC Arena.

The Filipinas fell to an early 0-5 deficit, managed to climb their way back into the game, only to find themselves in penalty with four minutes left that thwarted their bid for an endgame comeback.

KC Dela Rosa finished with nine points in a losing cause for Gilas womens, which advanced in the crossover semifinals as the top seeded team in Pool A.

The loss sent Gilas to a do-or-die game with host Singapore for the last World Cup berth at stake in the two-day qualifiers.

The Singaporeans lost to Hungary in the first women’s semifinals, 21-13.

Vivi Borondy finished with a game-high 13 points to lead Hungary, which finished the game with still 48 seconds remaining.

    The scores

    Lithuania (21) – Nacickaite 11, Sulske 5, Labuckiene 3, Miknaite 2.
