Primarily Bulgarian tourists are expected to choose a summer holiday at Perelik SPA Hotel this year, Sofia Tsankova, Chair of the Board of Directors of Pamporovo AD, told BTA.

The company also expects an increase in Romanian and Greek tourists for the summer season, following the opening earlier this year of the Smolyan–Rudozem–Xanthi border crossing.

Perelik SPA Hotel is part of the investments aimed at developing Pamporovo as a year-round resort, Tsankova added.

The Body & Soul SPA Lounge combines modern spa facilities with the traditions of climatotherapy in the region, known for its negative air ionisation and high concentration of natural antibiotics known as phytoncides.

The unique climate and forest characteristics of the Pamporovo area make it an ideal place for programmes combining the benefits of modern medicine with ancient recovery and prevention practices for socially significant diseases, such as climatotherapy and forest bathing, explained Aleksandra Tsankova, head of health tourism at the company.

The spa complex is part of efforts to restore Pamporovo’s popularity as a climatic resort, as it was in the early 20th century. Before becoming a ski centre, Pamporovo was known for decades as a place for recovery from respiratory and endocrine conditions, injuries, stress, and general fatigue.

Body & Soul SPA Lounge is a modern interpretation of this climatic destination. Its programmes are based on a combination of kinesiotherapy, rehabilitation, and the beneficial natural environment. This is an innovative holistic approach to improving health, and all programmes are strictly personalised and prescribed by a medical specialist, Tsankova said.

Among the most popular post-COVID programmes at the Perelik SPA Centre are “Pulmonary Prevention,” “Relaxation & Anti-Stress,” “Therapy for Injuries and Trauma” (musculoskeletal and peripheral nervous system), “Mountain Detox,” and Get Fit. The pulmonary prevention programme is based on a combination of breathing exercises, rehabilitation, therapeutic methods, and outdoor activities that improve breathing and optimise lung function. Breathing and relaxation techniques are also included in the “Relaxation & Anti-Stress” programme, which takes a comprehensive approach to stress management.

Located on an area of 2,500 sq. m across three levels, Body & Soul SPA Lounge features a 25-metre swimming pool, a variety of saunas and steam baths for relaxation and detoxification, an ice room, hydro-massage tubs, a fitness centre, a hammam, a salt room, a VIP jacuzzi, and more.
