According to a report from Euronews, several new golf courses are set to open or have recently opened across Europe, offering fresh destinations for golf tourism. The annual Masters tournament often inspires interest in the sport, leading enthusiasts to consider travel to premier golfing locations.

In the Scottish Highlands, the Old Petty course at the Cabot Highlands resort is scheduled to open in May. This coastal course features a links-style design that incorporates the natural terrain and sea views. Meanwhile, the Albatros course at Le Golf National near Paris, known for a past Ryder Cup event, is undergoing redesign work and is planned to reopen in September 2026.

Portugal’s Torre Course at Terras da Comporta, which opened in June 2025, received a global award for best new golf course. Designed by professional golfer Sergio Garcia, the course is intended to be both challenging and engaging. The same resort also features the Dunas Course, which opened in 2023.

A course named the New Course at a golf resort in north east Scotland, associated with the current President of the United States, opened in July of the previous year. It was named Europe’s best new golf course for 2025 and features extensive coastal views and a large natural bunker.

Looking ahead, Portugal’s Madeira island is preparing to open the Ponta do Pargo course in 2027, its first new course in over twenty years. The design by Nick Faldo’s firm utilizes the island’s cliffside landscape. Additionally, Ireland’s southeast coast will see the opening of Curracloe Links in April 2027, which is described as a new type of links course and part of a larger resort development.
