CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A local non-profit is sending unused medical supplies to the frontlines of the Russia-Ukraine War.

On Monday, Valley Health Systems donated unused medical supplies to Sunflower Seeds Inc. Tri-State Aid For Ukraine. The non-profit works to provide medical aid and humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian refugees and victims of the war.

The non-profit said they have raised more than $200,000 worth of cash, medical supplies, and equipment dentations.

Director of Project Management and Strategic Initiatives Aaron Holderby said they’re glad to support Sunflower Seeds’ mission.

“What they’re doing is utilizing those [supplies] in a country like Ukraine, where those supplies are not always readily available, and so we’re happy to help them in that,” Holderby said.

The donation includes 6,500 syringes and needles, 2,650 masks, 100 isolation gowns, and 7,500 gloves.
