TIRANA, Albania – FORMER MAYOR ERIC Adams has been granted Albanian citizenship, according to the New York Post.
Adams reportedly requested citizenship in the small Balkan country. The request was granted by Albanian President Bajram Begaj by special decree. Adams now also allegedly possesses an Albanian passport.
During his time as mayor, Adams frequently globetrotted to promote investment in New York, particularly in the Mediterranean. He logged trips to Turkey, Israel, Italy, Greece and Albania — a practice that didn’t stop, despite allegations that he was taking bribes from Turkey, which ultimately sank his reelection campaign.
The former mayor met with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama in October. Adams’ son, Jordan Coleman, was a contestant in 2022on “Kënga Magjike,” an Albanian singing competition TV show.
It was unclear at press time whether Adams intends to maintain his residence in the New York metropolitan area or decamp to Tirana, Albania’s capital.
