The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, in his speech at the 4th Diaspora Summit, emphasized the role of Albanians abroad and in the region in building the future of the nation.

Rama said that the future of Albania is not written only in Tirana, but in every country where Albanians live and work, mentioning cities such as Rome, Athens, London, Zurich, New York and Berlin. He stressed that the contribution of the diaspora is essential for the country’s development and European perspective.

The head of government paid special attention to Albanians in the region, starting with Kosovo, which he described as the next independent state of Albanians.

Focusing on North Macedonia, Rama emphasized that the Albanians there are a key element in the neighboring country, underlining that they are “a state-forming people of the friendly Republic.” He added that this reality should not be forgotten by anyone and constitutes an important basis for the coexistence and development of the country.

“The future of Albania is not written only in Tirana, but also in Rome, Athens, London, Zurich, New York, Berlin, in every place where Albanians live, work and dream. But the future of Albania is written everywhere Albanians live around the borders of Albania, starting with the other independent state of Albanians, Kosovo and then and continuing with the Albanians of North Macedonia, who no one should forget are a state-forming people of the neighboring and friendly Republic and continuing with the Albanians in Montenegro and elsewhere,” Rama declared.

Rama also mentioned Albanians in Montenegro and other regions, emphasizing that Albanians wherever they live are part of the same identity and contribute to strengthening national ties.

According to Rama, moving “from distance to proximity and from feelings to strategy” is essential to building a more sustainable future, where Albanians, inside and outside the borders, play a common role in economic and political development.
