The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says youth hunters set a new turkey harvest record in 2026.
The department says hunters bagged 2,318 birds, up from 2,099 the previous year.
Kendall County hunters went from two turkeys to one over the year. None were harvested in DeKalb County, and seven were bagged in LaSalle County in both 2025 and 2026.
Grundy County youth hunters harvested four turkeys in both years.
