Edward’s escapade saving Warsaw citizens from boars is not its first moment in the public eye; it has been showing up all over the city. Edward walks through markets, stops to talk to people and has even made celebrity appearances on the Polish version of Dancing with the Stars, as well as in Poland’s parliament. It has led crowds in cheers at sporting events and appeared on various Polish daytime television shows.
According to TVP World, Edward was created by Radosław Grzelaczyk and Bartosz Idzik, two tech specialists who, after training in China in late 2025, brought a humanoid robot back to Poland to test its abilities in public. Edward is a one-of-a-kind robot. In just over a month, there have been 150 videos featuring its antics, and it’s gaining fans fast.
Edward behaves like a regular person. It carries a backpack, gets dressed, picks things up and even recently purchased some perfume.
Running to fame
Edward doesn’t move like a seasoned athlete, but stays upright and consistent, and persists until the animals squeal and run away.
Edward is handled through multiple systems, and can operate on its own or be guided. When it’s out in public, the team keeps close and stays in control for safety. It’s not particularly fast, but it can navigate uneven ground and react to changes on the fly. That begs the question: how fast (and nimbly) could you run if Edward were chasing you?
