ATLANTIC CITY, N.J (WPVI) — Atlantic City casino employees continue pushing for fresh air.
Health experts and advocates joined dozens of workers on the boardwalk Wednesday, demanding lawmakers close the casino smoking loophole.
They’re marking 20 years since New Jersey’s Smoke-Free Air Act was signed into law. It largely bans indoor smoking; however, casinos have a long-standing exemption.
Legislation to close the casino smoking loophole has been introduced in both the state general assembly and senate with bipartisan support.
Casinos have warned that thousands of jobs and millions in gambling revenue and taxes could be lost if smoking were banned.
