Law No. 887 regulates the rental of housing in the protected sector in Monaco. Established in 1970, it aims to preserve access to housing for residents, while setting a strict framework for owners.

Concretely: lease of at least 6 years, regulated rent, residential use only and selection of tenants under conditions. The contract must also be validated by the administration.

For investors, this regime offers rental stability, but with less flexibility and often more moderate returns than in the free sector.

Is this type of regulation a barrier to investment… or a guarantee of long-term stability?
