The Commander of EUFOR, Major General Fronda, welcomed the Federal President of Austria, Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, to Camp Butmir for a high-level meeting focused on the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Discussions centred on the importance of EUFOR’s continued support to the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the role of sustained cooperation with domestic institutions in maintaining stability. Particular emphasis was placed on EUFOR’s close partnership with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including ongoing joint training activities designed to enhance interoperability and ensure operational readiness to respond to any potential security challenges.
Major General Fronda also highlighted the valuable contribution of Austrian personnel within EUFOR, recognising their professionalism and commitment to the mission. “Austrian personnel continue to play a vital role within EUFOR,” he stated.
“Their dedication, professionalism, and expertise significantly contribute to our collective efforts in maintaining a safe and secure environment.”
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, underpinned by strong international support and cooperation.
