On April 16, 2026, Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria took part in the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Bulgaria and the Day of the Bulgarian Constitution, held in Veliko Tarnovo.

The event gathered leading state officials, including President Iliana Yotova, along with representatives of the judiciary and legal community. Patriarch Daniel addressed the assembly, highlighting the historical role of Orthodox Christianity in Bulgaria’s constitutional tradition and emphasizing the connection between divine and human law.

He noted that when laws contradict moral and spiritual principles, they can have negative consequences for both individuals and society. The Patriarch also extended his greetings to constitutional judges and legal professionals, offering prayers for wisdom and strength in upholding justice.

The celebrations took place at the historic building of the Constituent Assembly, symbolizing Bulgaria’s constitutional heritage, and concluded with a formal gathering of participants to commemorate the occasion.
