Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili has met with Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Istanbul, the Georgian speaker shared on his “X” account, APA’s local bureau reports.
The post reads:
“It was my pleasure to meet with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the 152nd meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul. It was my distinct privilege to award Sahiba Gafarova with the first Parliamentary Medal of Honor, which was only recently estabished at the Parliament of Georgia. She has made a great contribution to the strengthening of the Parliamentary ties between Georgia and Azerbaijan, and to the friendship between our peoples. This Award reflects her unique involvement in establishing stronger than ever normative basis in relations between our Parliaments and her personal contribution to the ties between our Parliamentary Committees, friendship groups, and joint diplomatic activities. We welcomed robust inter-parliamentary cooperation and reaffirmed our commitment to the strategic partnership between 2 countries. We talked about peace process in our region and highlighted the need to advance strategic energy projects.”
