Serbia intends to join the European Union as an equal member of the community. This was announced today, April 16, by the country’s Foreign Minister Marko Djuric.

“Serbia is not going to Brussels with outstretched hand. To ask, to demand something. We are going as an equal country, a self-respecting country that is ready and able to act in its own interests and can give something to the wider community,” the minister said at a press conference in Moscow. Prague.

According to Djuric, Serbia will soon adopt another package of laws necessary for the accession process, as it wants to complete all administrative and technical procedures by the end of this year. At the same time, the final decision on expansion remains with the EU, the minister noted.

As reported by EADaily, in March, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the European Union does not have sufficient potential to make major strategic changes, but Serbia will continue its course towards integration, hoping to become a member. The EU by 2035. To this end, Belgrade intends to accelerate reforms on the European path.

At the same time The EU is pursuing a purposeful anti-Russian policy, sponsoring Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, and is preparing for war with Russia itself.

Brussels is also putting pressure on Serbia to force it to agree to grant this status to unrecognized Kosovo, which is actually equivalent to official recognition of the province’s independence.
