Trade relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have already begun, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, made this statement during the panel titled “South Caucasus: An Emerging Strategic Hub” held within the framework of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Türkiye reports.
“We are already attending the Antalya Diplomacy Forum with a peace agenda. There is no longer war and confrontation in the region as before. Azerbaijan remains committed to both the content and the spirit of the Washington summit. The Armenia–Azerbaijan normalization process was supported with the participation of Donald Trump, and a normalization agreement between the two countries has been initialed. We also understand that good documents can be adopted between states, but they must not remain only on paper. The main issue is taking practical steps, and Azerbaijan has demonstrated concrete actions in this direction. By building pragmatic interaction with the Armenian side, we are trying to bring the peace agenda into a real dimension, strengthen it, and turn it into concrete measures that will create a basis for trust between the two countries. In this context, progress in the first direction is positive, and we are trying to increase the momentum in other areas as well. At the same time, trade relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have already begun. Such steps were considered unimaginable just a few years ago, but are now becoming a reality,” Hikmat Hajiyev added.
