A gold tailored dress and an ancient Egyptian mask welcome visitors upon entry. A few meters away, a colourful display of goddess-like dresses embellish a renaissance-style painting. An edgy Alexander McQueen garment sits next to a Rembrandt painting. These are just some of the visual artistic encounters that the new exhibition “Art and Fashion” brings to the public at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The exhibition aims to be a dialogue between the works of art from the Gulbenkian Collection and some of the most beautiful haute couture pieces from the last 150 years.
