On April 19, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić held a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which the two leaders exchanged views on further strengthening bilateral relations.
The leaders discussed plans to deepen economic cooperation, expand collaboration in the fields of energy and investment, and implement new joint projects of strategic importance for both countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing the presidential website.
During the phone conversation, Aliyev’s official visit to Serbia in February this year was recalled with satisfaction, along with the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council between Azerbaijan and Serbia held with the participation of the heads of state, while the significance of the documents signed during the visit for strengthening bilateral cooperation was highlighted.
Aleksandar Vučić once again expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s continued support to Serbia, noting that his country intends to further develop relations with Azerbaijan in the spirit of sincere friendship, mutual respect, and shared interests in economic development.
The Serbian president also underlined that he views this as a confirmation of the strong partnership and mutual trust between the two countries. He announced that he will participate in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, which will take place next month in Baku.
During the telephone conversation, satisfaction was also expressed regarding the planned launch of direct flights by Air Serbia on the Belgrade–Baku route starting May 3. It was noted that this step will contribute to bringing the peoples closer together, as well as strengthening economic ties and tourism potential.
The heads of state also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East, reiterating the importance of restoring peace and stability as key conditions for regional security and development.
