A bilateral meeting was held today between the speakers of the parliaments of Azerbaijan and Armenia within the framework of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul, the Press and Public Relations Department of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis told the APA.

During the meeting, satisfaction was expressed with the recent processes related to strengthening peace and stability within the framework of normalization of relations between the two countries, as well as the establishment and expansion of trade relations.

In the conversation, the role of the IPU Assembly as an important platform for inter-parliamentary cooperation was emphasized, and in this regard, the efforts of the organization’s Secretary General, Martin Chungong, in establishing dialogue between the speakers of the Azerbaijani and Armenian parliaments were highly appreciated, and gratitude was expressed to him.

The speakers positively assessed the contacts between parliamentary delegations within international organizations following the meeting held in Geneva in October 2025 and agreed to continue these contacts.

During the meeting, the speakers emphasized the importance of continuing constructive parliamentary dialogue to further strengthen trust between the two societies.

The meeting took place within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly held in Istanbul.

The discussions lasted more than one hour.
