Highlights

For the Summer Games athletes representing the ‘Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’, at that time, first competed at the Games of the XXVI Olympiad Atlanta 1996, taking part there in the sports or disciplines of canoe slalom, shooting, swimming and wrestling. At the Games of the XXVII Olympiad Sydney 2000 Mogamed Ibragimov became the first athlete representing the ‘Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’, at that time, to win an Olympic medal of any colour, capturing bronze in the men’s wrestling freestyle light-heavyweight event. For the Winter Games, athletes representing the ‘Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’, at that time, first competed at the XVIII Olympic Winter Games Nagano 1998, taking part there in the disciplines of alpine skiing and cross country skiing. No athlete representing North Macedonia has yet won an Olympic Winter Games medal of any colour.

At Beijing 2022, North Macedonia was represented by two athletes in cross-country skiing. Stavre Jada, who also took part in PyeongChang 2018, contested the men’s sprint and men’s 50km mass start free events, posting a best finish of 56th in the 50km mass start. He was joined in Beijing by Olympic debutant Ana Cvetanovska, who finished 94th in the women’s 10km classic. Beijing was also the first time since North Macedonia’s Winter Games debut in 1998 that the NOC did not take part in Alpine skiing.
