KBS has secured the rights to broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and will dispatch announcer Jun Hyun-moo and commentator Lee Young-pyo to provide live coverage from the host countries.
KBS announced Monday that it accepted JTBC’s final offer for sublicensing rights to the tournament in order to fulfill its responsibilities as a public broadcaster, reaching a dramatic agreement after continued efforts to deliver value for the license fee.
KBS plans to send announcer Jun Hyun-moo and commentator Lee Young-pyo, a former national team player, to the tournament venues for on-site broadcasts.
The 23rd edition of the World Cup will be held from June 12 to July 20, Korea Standard Time, across 16 stadiums in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
This tournament will be the first World Cup to feature an expanded field of 48 participating nations, up from 32.
