KOSPI Extends Record Rally for Third Day, Tops 6,500 Intraday

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) climbed above six-thousand-470 points on Thursday, extending its record-breaking rally to a third consecutive session.

The KOSPI rose 57-point-88 points, or zero-point-nine percent, from Wednesday’s closing to six-thosuand-475-point-81, reaching a new high for the third straight session.

The index had closed at six-thousand-423-point-29 on Wednesday, posting a new high, and went on to set another new closing high on Thursdsay.

The index opened at six-thousand-488-point-83 on Thursday, up 70-point-nine points, or one-point-one percent, immediately hitting a new high.

It later surged to an intraday high of six-point-557-point-76, breaking above the six-thousand-500 mark for the first time ever. 

After trimming gains and briefly turning negative, it rebounded in late trading to end higher.

Retail investors purchased a net 530 billion won worth of shares, while foreign and institutional investors moved to lock in profits, posting net sales of 401-point-six billion won and 69-point-four billion won, respectively.

Meanwhile, the tech-heavy KOSDAQ fell six-point-81 points, or zero-point-58 percent, to close at one-thousand-174-point-31, halting a ten-session winning streak.
