Mikheil Kavelashvili nominated Zurab Pataridze as a candidate for the chairmanship of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara in clear and gross violation of the constitutional law of Georgia – the constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, – the Gakharia for Georgia party says in a statement.

According to the statement, the president was supposed to submit the candidacy after consulting with all political entities represented in the Supreme Council, but he did not have any communication with the Gakharia for Georgia political team.

“Today, Mikheil Kavelashvili, in clear and gross violation of the constitutional law of Georgia – the constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara – nominated Zurab Pataridze as a candidate for the position of Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

Despite the fact that the constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara directly requires the President to nominate a candidate after consulting with all political entities represented in the Supreme Council, he has not had any communication with our political team in the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

According to the current legislation, within 2 weeks after the termination of the powers of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the President of Georgia, after consulting with the political entities represented in the Supreme Council, shall submit to the Supreme Council for approval the candidacy for the chairmanship of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and the candidacies of ministers.

Accordingly, we consider this fact not a formal error, but a clear and blatant violation of the constitutional law of Georgia – the constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, as a disrespect for the institutions and citizens represented by the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara”, – reads the statement.
