Are you bringing cheap gasoline to Latvia? Not all canisters are equally safe!

Organic synthesis specialist Irina Oreshkina explains: plastic containers are lightweight and convenient, but they are not suitable for storing fuel for more than 1-2 weeks.

“Plastic has micropores through which air penetrates, leading to accelerated oxidation. There is a risk of chemical interaction between the fuel and the canister material if it is not specifically designed for storing flammable liquids,” warns the expert.

And even for short-term storage, only those canisters that have the manufacturer’s marking confirming that the product is intended for petroleum products will be suitable.
