Polish and allied aircraft launched precautionary operations overnight after a Russian air assault on Ukraine. Air defenses and early warning planes raised readiness.
In the night of April 25, Poland launched its air force into the sky in response to a massive Russian air attack on Ukraine. Such steps are intended to strengthen the defense of the airspace and respond to the threat in the region.
According to the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces, operations by Polish and allied aviation have begun in the airspace. In accordance with existing procedures, the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces activated the necessary forces and assets at his disposal.
In particular, fighters and an early warning aircraft were scrambled. Ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance have been placed on heightened readiness.
In connection with the attack by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, carried out using air-attack means, operations of Polish and allied aviation have begun in our airspace. In the night of April 25, Russian forces carried out a large-scale joint attack on Ukrainian territory using strike drones, cruise and ballistic missiles. As a result, residential buildings in Dnipro were damaged, and at least 18 people were injured.
Poland emphasizes its readiness to support allies within the framework of coordinating actions to defend the airspace and strengthen monitoring to minimize risks to civilian populations and critical infrastructure.
