Russian Drone Debris Found in Romania Following Massive Attack on Ukraine

The Romanian Ministry of Defense confirmed that debris from Russian drones fell onto its territory during the massive coordinated assault on Ukraine in the early hours of Saturday, April 25.

In response to the aerial threat, British Royal Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon jets were scrambled at 02:00 a.m. to monitor Romanian airspace. Pilots reported radar contact with a target approximately 1.5 km from the Ukrainian port city of Reni and were authorized to engage the drones.

While residents in Tulcea county were warned via the RO-ALERT system, debris was later discovered in the Galati region. According to preliminary reports, the wreckage slightly damaged an auxiliary farm building and an electrical pole; no casualties were reported.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense issued a strong condemnation of the incident, labeling Russia’s actions a direct threat to regional stability and international law. “Such incidents demonstrate the Russian Federation’s disrespect for international law and endanger not only the safety of Romanian citizens but also the collective security of NATO,” the ministry stated in a press release.

This spillover occurred during one of the largest aerial campaigns of the war. Russian forces launched a total of 666 missiles and drones overnight, primarily targeting Dnipro, where the death toll has now risen to four. Throughout Ukraine, at least six people have been confirmed dead and more than 30 wounded, including two children.

While Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 610 targets, the impact of the strike has been felt across the Black Sea region.

President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly called for expedited air defense reinforcements through the PURL program, emphasizing that Moscow’s “murderous war machine” continues to ignore national borders and international safety protocols.
