A new display in Palanok Castle reveals little-known cultural and legal links between Lithuania and Ukraine, inviting visitors to explore shared European heritage.

In Mukachevo, at Palanok Castle, on April 24 an exhibition was opened: “The Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Vilnius: the historical union of Lithuania and Ukraine.”

The Mukachevo Department of Culture and Youth Policy announced the event on its Facebook page.

“A landmark cultural event took place at the Mukachevo Historical Museum – the opening of the exhibition ‘The Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania in Vilnius: the historical union of Lithuania and Ukraine’, according to the report.”

According to the organizers, the exposition brings together more than twenty banners that help deepen understanding that the history of Ukraine is closely woven into the European historical space. They demonstrate the ancient ties between the Ukrainian and Lithuanian peoples, which formed not only through political alliances but also due to shared values, culture, law, and the drive for development.

It is noted that this exhibition development not only reveals the history of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, but also promotes cooperation between museums to preserve the shared cultural heritage. Such events not only popularize the shared historical heritage, but also strengthen cultural ties between Ukraine and European countries.

Links between peoples and the significance of the exhibition

The exhibition will run until May 17.

They also report on a presentation at the Museum of Pysanky in Prykarpattya of the project “PEACEанки,” within which artifacts created by artist-soldiers – the participants of the artistic platform “Cultural Forces” – have been collected.

This event underscores the strong historical ties between the Lithuanian and Ukrainian peoples and fosters further inter-museum cooperation on a European scale.
