They revealed major equipment deliveries and a €5.7 million support package, while planning practical measures to protect Ukraine’s energy infrastructure this winter.

    The First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal, held a meeting with Lithuania’s Minister of Energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas, during which they discussed winter preparations and the protection of Ukraine’s energy system.

    The meeting took place in the context of heightened energy cooperation between the two countries and an exchange of expertise on energy security.

    Key Aspects of the Meeting

    Shmyhal announced the event on Telegram.

    “I held a meeting with Lithuania’s Minister of Energy Žygimantas Vaičiūnas. I am grateful for the visit to Ukraine for the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. I also thanked him for visiting one of the energy facilities that has been repeatedly attacked by Russia. We value Lithuania’s energy assistance. In total, Lithuanian partners delivered 356 shipments weighing 6,000 tons. Among what was delivered were power transformers and many other pieces of equipment,” wrote the minister.

    Lithuania also provided €5.7 million in European support, which was transferred to the Energy Support Fund.

    According to Shmyhal, during the meeting they also discussed the transfer of equipment from decommissioned Lithuanian power plants.

    There was also discussion of leveraging Ukrainian experience in the work of European institutions. Lithuania has companies and expertise that can help in this regard.

    In the context of defense cooperation, the presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania – Volodymyr Zelensky and Gitanas Nausėda – discussed possibilities for further development of defense production, particularly within the Drone Deal format.

    Thus, the parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening energy and defense security, enhancing cooperation and exchanging experience between Ukraine and Lithuania.
