Croatia’s Minister of Tourism and Sport, Tonči Glavina, has called on the tourism sector to maintain competitive pricing amid ongoing global uncertainty, warning that rising costs should not be passed on to visitors.

Speaking at a tourism safety conference in Split, Glavina stressed that the current global situation could impact travel demand and potentially lead to losses, making smart pricing strategies essential for the industry.

He also highlighted safety as one of Croatia’s key competitive advantages, noting that the government continues to invest in strengthening security systems during the tourist season.

Glavina added that around 80 percent of tourists arrive in Croatia by road, while changes in global travel patterns are leading to cancelled flights in some regions and new opportunities for destinations like Croatia. Financial support will be provided to airports to help attract new routes.

Meanwhile, Kristjan Staničić emphasised that Croatia must continue to build its reputation as a safe destination.

A new platform, “Safe in Dalmatia,” was also presented at the conference, offering tourists easy access to safety information, emergency contacts and practical advice via QR code.

Officials concluded that maintaining safety, accessibility and competitive pricing will be crucial for Croatia’s tourism success in the months ahead.
