Spokane, Wash. — Gonzaga University will host Team Egypt for their World Cup practices, bringing excitement to the school and the wider Spokane community.

Bella Fontaine, a Gonzaga student, says the visit feels meaningful beyond sports.

“I think it’s really good for the Spokane community just within itself, like Gonzaga’s very tight knit community. Same with the Spokane area. Just all around. So I think it is really good to kind of have that presence That’s something that is not just basketball as well,” said Fontaine.

Partners across Spokane announced a “Summer of Soccer” campaign to build around the city’s selection to host Team Egypt.

Restaurants and other businesses are set to open for match viewing. Fans are also invited to gather at the Gesa Pavilion at Riverfront Park on June 19 and July 19 to watch matches while enjoying food and beverages.

Visit Spokane looks forward to connecting fans and businesses through Spokane’s Summer of Soccer and showing what the city can deliver.
