A hospital employee was found dead at his workplace at Riga East University Hospital (RAKUS) on April 27th, RAKUS reported. Latvian Television reports that she had been crushed by a door.

    State Police officers are on the scene investigating the circumstances of the incident, the hospital stated.

    The State Police stated that on Monday, police received a call to a hospital regarding a possible accident in which a hospital employee had died.

    In connection with the incident, criminal proceedings have been initiated under the section of the Criminal Law concerning violations of occupational safety regulations that result in death.

    LTV reported that the RAKUS employee was crushed in a door in the radiology department because the safety systems were not functioning.

    The hospital is not providing additional information about the incident.

    East Hospital extends its condolences to the employee’s family, loved ones, and colleagues.
