
The Greek National Tourism Organisation office in Serbia organised the trip in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Tourism Organisation, the Municipality of Kastoria and the Kastoria Hoteliers Association. Representatives from RTV SLO and the gastronomy and tourism magazine Pet Zvezdic joined the visit, including Marjana Grcman and Peter Irman, president and vice-president of the Slovenian Association of Tourism Journalists.
During their stay in Thessaloniki, the delegation explored key cultural landmarks, including the city’s traditional market and the Church of Saint Demetrius Church. They visited local markets, learned about the preparation of traditional dishes such as bougatsa and kolokythokeftedes, and sampled local wine varieties. The visit highlighted Thessaloniki’s inclusion in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network for Gastronomy.
In Kastoria, the journalists discovered the city’s distinctive architecture and visited the Byzantine Museum of Kastoriaand the lakeside Neolithic settlement at Dispilio. They also took part in outdoor activities around Lake Orestiada.
Upon departing Greece, the Slovenian journalists expressed strong enthusiasm for the range of activities available in Thessaloniki, particularly its gastronomy scene. They also praised Kastoria, describing its landscape as uniquely beautiful and distinct from more widely known Greek destinations.
