At the same time, she said that she does not have information about other forms of cooperation between Poland and Belarus beyond the prisoner exchange, but plans to discuss the situation at a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in June.

“As far as I know, Poland has certain contacts with Belarus […] We exchange political prisoners, and a significant number of political prisoners have recently been released, so the process itself is going smoothly and stably. This is the main thing. At this moment, I really don’t know anything about any other actions, but I hope to meet with the Prime Minister in June and, obviously, there will be an opportunity to discuss this in more detail,” Ruginiene told reporters on April 29.

At the same time, Ruginiene emphasized that Lithuania can consider the possibility of a higher level of contacts with Minsk only if Belarus fulfills certain requirements. Among them, as outlined earlier, are: stopping the launch of contraband balloons across the border, returning detained trucks without fines, and stopping illegal migration across the border.

“We have our own agenda, we truly act in accordance with our stated goals. We have already publicly stated that we see no problems in organizing such a meeting if certain conditions are met,” Ruginiene said regarding the possibility of establishing political contacts with Lukashenka’s regime.
