Giannis Antetokounmpo has set his sights on winning another NBA title while confirming he plans to return to the Greek national team in 2027.

Speaking to ANT1 during a visit to Thessaloniki, the Milwaukee Bucks superstar opened up about his goals, recent injury struggles, and his connection with Greek basketball fans.

    Enjoying the atmosphere in Thessaloniki

Antetokounmpo attended a match at the Alexandrio Melathron, where he watched Aris Thessaloniki BC face Panionios BC.

“The atmosphere was really nice. I didn’t expect this much love from the people. I can’t wait to go again,” he said.

He added that he always supports his family, regardless of which team they represent.

“No matter which team my brother plays for — Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, Aris, Filathlitikos, NBA — I want to see his team win and play well,” Antetokounmpo noted.

Focus on recovery and national team return

The Greek star confirmed he will not feature in upcoming national team commitments due to injury concerns but remains determined to return.

“I can’t play this year. I really wanted to be with the national team because I didn’t play much this season with the Bucks due to injury. We’ll wait until 2027. My legs are fine,” he said.

    Eye on NBA success

Looking ahead, Antetokounmpo made clear that his ambitions in the NBA remain high, with another championship firmly in his sights as he continues his career with the Milwaukee Bucks.

    A rare summer break

For the first time in years, Antetokounmpo will enjoy a lighter summer schedule.

“I have work to do with the foundation in memory of my father, and I also have to travel to China. It’s the freest summer I’ve had in the last ten years,” he said.

He added that he plans to take time to relax, hinting that fans may spot him on the Greek islands during the offseason.
